Nate recalled watching The Amazing Race with his parents before returning to the series as an adult in Texas. A viewing session with Zach eventually led to the brothers applying together.[4]
Nate said running formed a large part of their preparation. Under the pressure of the start, that habit influenced their decision to run through Vancouver rather than take a taxi.[4]
Once the brothers fell behind, they considered using their Express Pass. Other teams had already used passes at the Roadblock and Detour, preventing Nate and Zach from skipping either task.[5]
Nate told TV Insider that their water taxi left them farther away from the Detour than other teams. The unexpected drop-off meant another run before they could reach the challenge.[5]
Nate estimated that only two or three minutes separated the brothers from Daisha Wilks and Dalton Hamby at the finish. He said the teams’ final taxis were close enough that a traffic signal could matter.[5]
