Sweeney began with musical theatre before taking dance training seriously at ten. Competition introduced her to more advanced dancers, and she progressed into elite competition while spending increasing time in the studio.[1]
She signed with dance agency MSA at fifteen. That representation led to professional auditions and jobs, including performing for Jennifer Lopez and appearing in the Netflix musical The Prom.[1]
Sweeney was one of the lead choreographers on NBC’s Dancing with Myself. She also assisted choreography on So You Think You Can Dance and ABC’s Schoolhouse Rock! sing-along special, alongside performance work in Love, Victor.[1]
On The Business of Dance podcast, Sweeney discussed her choreography for Descendants: The Rise of Red and the response to it online. The conversation also covered working with Disney and attending the film’s premiere.[2]
Teaching is another part of Sweeney’s professional work. Her podcast interview describes sessions at Los Angeles studios and international workshops, with her bilingual background helping her communicate with students and collaborators in Latin America.[2]
