Sganga described being comfortable with unpredictable work and thinking on his feet.[1]
Although food preparation was an obvious role for him, he felt that reading people and communicating directly became just as useful during filming.[1]
He was used to leading in a kitchen but found himself content with a supporting role in camp. His interview also describes an unexpected friendship with event host Freddie Browne, despite their different backgrounds.[1]
The experience made Sganga think about how much could be cooked from a small pantry. He also reflected on waste in professional kitchens, while acknowledging that greater awareness had not immediately changed all his habits.[1]
In his September 2026 interview, Sganga said he had written Twenty-Eight Recipes for Twenty-Eight Days in the Apocalypse. He described a mixture of recipes and stories arranged around the days of filming, including meals improvised from the ingredients available.[1]
